During my working holiday in New Zealand I had a contract with Downer conducting sports park maintenance. This consisted of making sure the sports fields were kept in good condition, mowing the cricket blocks, and painting the lines for the different pitches. I mainly worked by myself but often helped out others on their duties. Working on my own schedule gave me great time management skills.

Whakapapa, New Zealand

Fitting out Holidaymakers and travellers with Skis/Snowboard and boots making sure they have the most comfortable and enjoyable time up the mountain. I am also responsible for maintenance and repairs of the equipment such as edging, waxing, P-texing core shots and base grinds.

Nozawa Onsen

Being a ski instructor, I was the face many guests spent most of their time with. This entailed ensuring the guests were always having fun and in a safe environment enabling them to learn new skills. I taught many people of all ages from 3 years old upwards, in varied group situations, such as individual lessons, groups of adults, groups of children, and families of mixed ages. This meant I had to be flexible and be able to adapt my teaching techniques depending on who I was teaching. In my spare time when I was not teaching I carried out other roles within the company, the main one being that I helped out in the rentals shop. In the rentals shop we fitted people with all necessary gear, from boots & skis/snowboards, to gloves and goggles. I was required to have strong knowledge of our gear to ensure I was providing each individual customer with the perfect equipment for their time on the slopes.

Working here has given me an understanding of the operations of a holiday resort and how important it is that guests’ expectations are met. I have been trained in different departments making me versatile and also have experience in working varied shifts (sometimes over- night). I can work well under pressure and during peak season while still delivering great customer service. I progressed in this role to become a team leader, in charge of multiple catering venues, giving me additional responsibilities involving cashing up, stock taking and monitoring the performance of my team.

Working with clients to live briefs to come up with concepts and then produce these ideas to suit the clients needs.

Felpham

I was responsible for the well-being and entertainment of children aged 4-11 by organising games and activities for them. This role required me to be mature and able to engage with the children and parents.

Staverton

I started this job as a kitchen porter which involved maintaining the cleanliness and quality of the kitchen and crockery. My interest in learning new skills enabled me advance to helping the chef cooking and presenting the food for the guests. This required care and attention in making the layout of the dish to a four star quality standard.
