The program seeks participants who desire to address critical challenges in the public sector with actionable solutions. My work is focused on scaling our social impact financing model for affordable housing using the resources and support networks at the Hoover Institution and Stanford University.

Founder of a technology company that empowers veteran and veteran-spouse owned businesses through tools that highlight them on leading search, social media and e-commerce platforms. At its peak, the platform served more than 51,000 businesses across all sectors through a browser extension and an active social media effort that shared the important stories of veteran/spouse business owners.

Senior executive for a city-wide economic development company located in one of the country’s poorest cities. Developed and implemented organizational strategy, which resulted in 70% average year-on-year revenue growth for five years and substantial increases in Camden’s market-growth metrics. Managed a diverse portfolio of company initiatives, including: real estate investment/development, infrastructure, business attraction and retention, neighborhood planning, special improvement district, and policy development. Provided leadership for thirteen staff and twenty contract employees, with an annual operating budget of approximately $10 million and total annual project value in excess of $30 million. Worked in close partnership with a Board of Directors consisting of thirty CEOs and senior leaders from the region’s most prominent public, private and community-based organizations. Selected organizational accomplishments include:• Implemented strategy that grew company from one to 30 employees and grew revenues from $700,000 to approximately $10 million in six years • Assembled land, entitlements, public incentives and led recruitment effort that resulted in Philadelphia 76ers relocation of practice facility and corporate headquarters to Camden • Purchased and re-positioned 575,000 s.f. office/manufacturing campus, creating more than $20 million in new asset value• Led development of 20,000 s.f. small-business accelerator that is now home to more than a dozen companies• Funded and executed more than $30 million in public infrastructure projects • Managed the funding and construction of improvements on more than 500 properties through façade and home-improvement programs that became a statewide model• Created collaborative employer-assisted housing incentive program across five anchor institutions and three local banks

Developed policy recommendations for both Army and inter-governmental stability/economic reconstruction operations in non-permissive environments. Created strong working relationships with strategic alliance partners through Civil-Military Emergency Preparedness exercises. Hosted senior Pakistani leaders for civil-military engagement exercise. Assisted in drafting U.S. Army manual for stability operations.

Lead economic development officer for NATO’s counter-corruption task force in Afghanistan. Responsible for all aspects of anti- and counter-corruption policy related to economic development, private-sector business development, borders, trade, and infrastructure. Created key partnerships between ISAF, the US Embassy, private-sector companies, international donors and senior Afghan government officials. Assisted in the development of: an extractive industries development plan, a comprehensive borders strategy, reform benchmarks for 2012-14 international donor contributions, and a private-sector led government reform agenda.

Provided client legal services for all aspects of real estate development and investment, including leasing, acquisitions, tax appeals, financing and entitlement. Projects included: portfolio acquisition for a national REIT; financing and tax credit structuring for several low-income housing and mixed-use urban projects; lease negotiations for a national franchise tenant; land-use, permitting and entitlement work for various retail and office projects. Developed strategy for firm expansion in China; assisted National Constitution Center in developing programming in Afghanistan.

Selected from several hundred applicants as one of fifteen U.S. leaders to live and work in Asia for one year. Worked as a deputy to the General Manager of a large property development company. Led project finance decisions, created repositioning strategies, and developed structures for foreign direct investment.

Served as Rifle Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Battalion Logistics Officer in a 700-soldier air assault infantry battalion. Responsible for the leadership of thirty soldiers during an overseas peacekeeping deployment in the Middle East. Planned training and executed operations as second in command of 120-man infantry rifle company. Advised Battalion Commander on all logistical issues and managed all battalion equipment and budget. Planned and executed key missions in response to attacks of September 11, 2001 and in support of units deploying to Operation Enduring Freedom.

Strengthened leadership skills and tested endurance during successful completion of Infantry, Airborne and Ranger schools.
