About Diana García Cortés, Phd

I am a Software Engineer who has dedicated her professional and academic efforts into the application of computer science towards biomedical research and I have experience both in academia and industry settings. My PhD research at the Computational Genomics Division of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (INMEGEN), studies transcriptional regulation in cancer, in particular the loss of long range co-expression phenomenon, through a systems biology approach that involves network science. All of my latest projects are built using mainly R along with the Snakemake workflow management system. However, I also have experience with python, JavaScript, java, and C++ from my college days. I love sharing knowledge, specially with women, and that's why I joined Pilares School of Code for Women, where I used to be a tutor and now I am part of Women Who Code in the CDMX@TJ network. I also enjoy online courses and I am currently enrolled in the Machine learning in Python with scikit-learn from Inria and the Applied Data Science with Python specialization from Coursera and the University of Michigan.
