Elephant Data is a service and software development company providing automation integration, data historian, and industrial artificial intelligence industry solutions. Automation services include engineering design, project management, and solution implementation for manufacturing environments.Elephant data developed IoT Hardware and Software solutions for industrial automation. I worked as an Industrial IoT Java developer that developed proprietary TCP/MODBUS client and server applications, bypassing the need for expensive standard industry solutions (e.g. OSIsoft, DeltaV). Our solution consisted of the following components: Linux servers, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, Raspberry Pi Zero W, Click PLCs, USB RS485 adapters, and thermocouples. Open source software included: Grafana, Apache Nifi, mySCADA (SCADA) and time series solutions from Influx Data. We also automated data transfers between geographically distant datacenters, while preserving data integrity (buffering) in the event of network interruptions. A fully functional prototype was implemented at a client site, including the ability to remotely interact with automation components (SCADA).
