Español (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ddleons)Diego de León is currently a senior associate director at APCO Worldwide, a global consulting firm focused on public adviars, high level advisory, and communications. He is in charge of supporting the leadership on public affairs with multilateral organizations and the company's expansion in Latin America and multilateral platforms globally.Before his current post, he served as the Director for urban issues, infrastructure, and energy affairs and as a seconded consultant on climate change via UNDP in the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations. Previously he served as a Senior Expert at Foundation Pensar, where he led the development of the knowledge platform to support the transition team of the Federal Government (2018-2024) to continue the implementation of the Paris Agreement.In May 2018, Diego graduated as a Harvey Picker Public Service awardee and Fulbright-COMEXUS Scholar from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs Master Program in Public Administration and Development Practice (MPA-DP). He focused on studying the links between subnational governments, the Paris Agreement, and the 2030 Agenda. In parallel, he has worked as a graduate consultant for CDP to research clean energy financing tools for cities in the US, and with Fundación Corona in Colombia to develop a M&E tool for the SDG at the city level. He was a consultant at the Office of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, where he helped to launch and strengthen the SG strategy to accelerate the 2030 Agenda at the local level (Local2030). After graduating, he worked as a Fellow at Columbia's Center for Sustainable Investment. Before coming to NYC, Diego was the Director of Foreign Affairs for the State Government of Jalisco, where he was in charge of developing the governor's international agenda and international cooperation projects. He also has experience as a private consultant for international development projects at the local level and as an entrepreneurship high school professor. Diego holds a BA in International Relations from the Tec de Monterrey University (magna cum laude) and a Certificate in International Environment and Development from the American University in Washington DC.
