I've worked as a journalist since writing, during high school, as a sports stringer for my hometown paper, through my years as campus editor for the UC Davis Cal Aggie, to professional book reviewing as a librarian in Library Journal, Notes, and the San Francisco Chronicle, and subsequent columns for local papers in Benicia and Aptos. I have published.

Co-author of the S&S title, The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics, published in 2005 and still in print as of this writing, in 2017. The book was reissued in a new cover in 2015, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the band's founding.

Oversee the functioning of a busy community library, and serve as staff to the City's Arts & Culture Commission. Participate as a member of the City's Executive Management Team.

Responsible for collection development for all types of adult materials, including books, movies, music, databases, you name it. Worked collaboratively with librarians throughout the branches to build a collection that served the needs of Sonoma County residents.

Library Director for a two-location municipal library. Directed all aspects of Library operations, oversaw renovation of a 100-year-old Carnegie building, worked to assure passage of a parcel tax for library services. Active member of the City's Management Team of Department Heads.

Managed a group of seven libraries in the northern portion of the City of San Francisco.

Served on the Library's Administrative Team. Primary responsibility for systemwide committees and for all electronic, mobile, and outreach services.

San Rafael, CA

Oversaw the day-to-day operations of the central branch of the Marin County Free Library. Restored the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed space to its original plan.

Managed the Aptos Branch of the Santa Cruz City-County Library. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the branch.

Supervised the cataloging unit; performed original cataloging as needed. Developed the first website for the Library and for the campus.

Taught Collection Development course to Master's degree students.

Hired to consolidate the seven separate curatorial libraries into a single facility. Conducted a needs assessment, planned and organized a complex move and interfiling of the collections into a single library.

Served as adult and young adult services librarian; oversaw collection development and cataloging. Selected and implemented a library automation system, moving the Library from a card catalog to online catalog, in partnership with other area libraries.

Provided books and other information to the inmates of Alameda County Jails and the Federal Prison is Pleasanton. Staffed the reference desk at the Fremont Main Library. Participated in system-wide collection development.
