At EVO Payments International I started my career in Information Technology taking customer calls, assisting with bug triage, communicating customer issues with internal teams and providing developer support for integration into our payments API. The role led me to the development of a basic testing framework in support of customers and reproduction of issues. As I developed these skills I was promoted into quality assurance role where I developed the entire automated testing framework for a number of products within the company.As I gained responsibility for the health and management of development and testing environments I started contributing to the scripts and Puppet implementations that deployed to them. I began implementing CI workflows and processes that would lead me to be promoted into the DevOps position so I could focus my efforts on our deployment and reliability strategies. This role gave me responsibility for the health and management of production environments.I saw that the future of DevOps in cloud computing and technologies like Kubernetes and Terraform, so I found a position with PointsBet whose sole deployment strategy revolved around these technologies to support their per-state regulatory environment. There I maintained and wrote a number of their pipelines to support upgrading infrastructure and deploying code, rolled out multi-regional resource strategies, and triaged all environment issues. As PointsBet lost ground in the market it was acquired by Fanatics and in support of that acquisition I implemented multi-tenancy in their deployments and worked on their fail-over strategy to migrate the entire PointsBet property with zero downtime.
