Career Objective:I am committed to strategic development of new technology, investment in startup opportunities and the commercialisation of IP. My competency flows from real experience across a broad spectrum of technologies and commercialisation projects. I have invested in, founded, run and exited startups. I am an expert at the setup and structuring of companies. The strategic management I have performed includes identifying and capturing the opportunity (including the IP) then planning and executing the commercialisation process, along with setting up operations, board and governance. This work I have enjoyed with small spinnouts and startups all the way through to large research organisations and corporates. I am an active Chair & Director on Company Boards and Advisory Boards driving strategy and at times I take on operation roles for startups such as interim CEO or interim COO.Key Value Add:Through my own analysis, I quickly reach a base level of understanding of the technology, the market, the IP position and the investment value proposition. I practice lean startup methodologies and assumption testing with a healthy does of realism. This approach applies whether that commercialisation pathway is through start up ventures, university (PFRO) commercialisation offices or corporate R&D projects. I am willing to adjust my views with subsequent validated feedback. I avoid hasty judgement of opportunities without proper basis.
