Independent Contractor, Teradata Dba
Cleveland/Akron, Ohio Area
I was the core solo Teradata architect, responsible for all aspects defined in the SOW to build out three new Teradata servers, PROD, QA, and DEV with the 5 exceptions of anything related to Informatica and the associated ETL effort, building out the Semantic layer, implementing TASM, BAR, and implementing PDCR. I had nothing to do with the Semantic Layer and Informatica, but assisted with TASM, BAR, and PDCR. I also set up and configured two Viewpoint servers (I did not set up the clustering of the QA and PROD Viewpoint servers, which was done by a Teradata resource).PROD was a 2+1 6680, with solid state memory, using TVS (Teradata Virtual Storage). SOW was to fork lift DB2 tables and data and port to Teradata with about 1 terabyte of Third Normal Form data. The engagement was a collaborative implementation with established roles across Teradata, Cap Gemini (Cognos) and American Greetings resources. My role was to set up and configure the box three Teradata servers, PROD (6680), QA (560) and DEV (560) out of the box from scratch. Specifically:• Responsible for all Teradata system users and passwords, Viewpoint admin password, and BAR admin password.• I created all users on all three Teradata servers except for the Cognos users on PROD which were set up using LDAP (I did not configure LDAP).• Utilized NPARC to copy everything on PROD (DBC tables as well client tables) to QA for initial build out of QA• • Analyze and gather requirements of the existing data warehouse systems on database structure, ETL process, data delivery process, alert mechanism etc.• Interact with AG’s persons at various levels to understand AG’s migration processes and provide related TD best practices.• Provide support and guidance to Cap Gemini Teradata ETL resources.
