I was central to the transforming and sustaining the University’s IT into a effective platform from which the University can operate. I have managed a wide variety of teams which encompassed 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support and the teams that designed, deployed and maintained the University's core IT services.I played a pivotal part in changing the culture across the University, moving from a largely informal "access anything from anywhere" model to a more accountable and secure environment. This had many challenges, however the University is now able to routinely pass the Cyber Essentials Plus assessment each year.The University recently decided to reduce the number of sites down to 2 main sites to simplify it's estate and enhance teaching and learning for students. This gave me the opportunity to make the case for making the investment in 2 data centres to improve overall resilience as well as the RPO and RTO.I consistently encouraged the use of established best practices, such as ITIL, to continually improve working practices and the services used by students and staff.
