I started with CFI, a division of Westfraser in 1987 right after high school graduation. After 2 years as a laborer, I had held several positions on the production shift, right from entry level positions such as piling kiln strips, to driving a forklift. At this point, I was promoted to a lead hand role in the planer department. While doing this job I developed my skills as a supervisor. I also attained my lumber grading ticket. In 1999 I was chosen for an electrical apprenticeship after passing the aptitude tests. I completed my apprenticeship in 2004 and continued as an Electrician until 2007 when I was promoted to a salaried planer production supervisor. In 2012, I was promoted to Sawmill Maintenance Superintendent. I remained in this position up until Feb. of 2019, at which time, I was given the opportunity to focus entirely on the implementation, and integration of the new electronic maintenance program at CFI. I am currently working on this and making progress, along with trouble shooting maintenance and production issues in the Sawmill and the Planer.
