Pirates at the Settlement Conference is the full day seminar produced by MSP Education/Compliance since 2009. This education event is designed to provide attendees with a substantive understanding of the Medicare system, the Medicare Secondary Payer Act, the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, the Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007.The program provides attendees with an understanding how to assemble and evaluate Medicare set-aside (MSA) arrangements as well as insight into Medicare conditional payment issues and the Medicare Secondary Payer vendor market.Material covered includes waiver and compromise of conditional payments, settlement strategies including model language, the process of preparing a Medicare set-aside, the use of structured settlements and options for administration of an MSA. Pirates at the Settlement Conference is presented 2-3 times per month at locations around the country. Attendees receive a resource manual the provides the legal foundation for resolving issues presented by the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and other related laws. The material is updated prior to each seminar to provide the most up to date resources available. Each conference is submitted for accreditation by each individual state's continuing legal education sanctioning entity. In addition, the program is approved by ICHCC for accreditation for re-certification of existing Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified (MSCC) designations.
