I came to law through a series of unconnected events – I didn’t plan to study law, and I didn’t plan to be a lawyer, it just turned out that being a lawyer allows me to help people get things done. It's not entirely altruistic as I like a good argument and often being a good lawyer is helping your clients win their arguments. I have worked in ten to fifteen different industries prior to law, everything from Hotel management through security and events, restaurants, electronics and electrical services, audiovisual technical consultant and more. In each of those positions I found that being able to help people do what they want to do was what made my days most satisfying.I started in law as a paralegal in 2002, was admitted as a lawyer in 2005, and have worked in general commercial law and litigation, insolvency, debt recovery and dispute resolution.The key thing that makes a good lawyer, to me, is being able to identify what people need, and understanding what outcomes are going to be best. My experience ranges from very large corporations and government entities down to individuals who just want a Will, or to buy a house, and I enjoy assisting regardless of the type of transaction. I had some legal issues myself many years before I came to law and found that dealing with lawyers was like talking another language and I admit I didn't really understand what was going on, so I use my experience in many industries before law to be able to get the right outcome without getting caught up in the communication. This is why I label myself a lawyer without jargon.
