In my current role I am solely responsible for dealing with all the returns received into the warehouse and for returning items to our suppliers. This involves communicating with the suppliers by email and on the telephone. I also process the necessary paperwork as required. Some of my current tasks include; serving customers at our trade counter, assisting with the stock taking and making deliveries to our London shops which involves driving the company van. To assist in the smooth running of the warehouse I frequently work overtime. Recently, I have learned the booking in of deliveries from our factory.

During this period, I was given the opportunity to spend some time in the head office with the Sales Director which enabled me to understand the process prior to receiving the order in the warehouse. Here I learned how to communicate with customers on the telephone and by fax and email. I also learned how to process orders on the company’s bespoke database and acquired some additional customer service skills. During this period in the sales office I also organised the products for an exhibition stand at the NEC in Birmingham, which involved transferring stock in and out of the warehouse. Whilst at the exhibition, I promoted the merchandise and spoke with potential and existing customers. On my return to the office I followed up the leads collected at the show.

It was my responsibility to organise the picking and packing area and staff to ensure the efficient running of the section. It was my duty to prepare the relevant paperwork for the couriers and assist with loading the pallets on to the vehicle at the end of the day, including those for export. As the picker and packer I was responsible for ensuring the correct items were picked and packed and prepared for courier collection.
