I truly care about creating spaces that work for everyone. My work to date whether as a consultant or mentor helps people to thrive. I believe liveable environments are vital for futureproofing urban spaces - cities can better meet diverse needs of the public, ensuring long-term relevance and resilience.Some of my work includes a Masterplan for Slough. I helped contextualise how the designs relate to the wider community, designing spaces that can accommodate families, disabled people, and ageing populations across all property types/sizes.I am Chair of the Manchester Disability Collaborative (MDC). The MDC seeks to create systemic change in the built environment for disabled people, and I engage with community and council leaders on the fundamental issues important to disabled people. I am Co-Chair for an internal disabled staff network at Arup. We work to remove barriers for all disabled people by influencing policy, procedures, and projects across the firm as a whole, on a local, regional, and global basis, helping Arup to further embrace diversity through disability equality. I have represented Great Britain in three Paralympics, gained my MSc in Access and Inclusive Design as a mature student and chaired my local, national league wheelchair basketball club for ten years, with a focus on providing opportunities for disabled children and adults to participate in leisure activities and get active.
