Reporting to the Group Engineering Director I managed and policed the Engineering sign off process for all JCB products across the globe including India, China, Savannah, Brazil and all UK engineering facilities. During this time, I also supported the engineering problem countermeasure process to enable a smooth transition into production for all new engines to meet the latest stage V emissions regulations.

I led a dedicated team that took the 100X range of excavator machines from the test and development phase and into full production. This was an experimental approach that was designed to put laser like focus into the new production process. The team was a secondment of personnel from all relevant departments including engineering, project management, purchasing, sales & marketing, quality, service, manufacturing and production. Special attention was paid to the production parts procurement process and production quality, with all production staff being fully trained in all aspects of the machine build process before it hit the production line. Even when the first machines were delivered to the field, this was followed up with extensive feedback from the customer to allow for the continuous evolvement of an even better-quality delivery. This process proved very successful and was proven via excellent customer and service quality feedback in the first 3 months of production.

Heavy Products Ltd. Heavy line excavators engineering department. Responsible for planning and implementing development test programs for the heavy line range of JCB excavators, defining engineering sign off process and leading a team of development engineers and experimental workshop to develop new products from concept to production. Ensuring that all products meet requirements according to the machinery directive and subsequent CE mark and/or conform to legislative requirements for the given sales territories. During this time I led the development team that delivered the new JCB X series of excavators inc the 200X and 100X range of machines. I was also a lead member of a dedicated team that benchmarked the competition and defined the performance criteria for a new 20 tonne excavator for the India and Chinese markets.

Compact Products Ltd. Engineering department. Responsible for benchmarking and defining performance criteria, planning and implementing development test programs for the Compact Products mini/midi excavator machine range, defining engineering sign off process and leading a team of development engineers and experimental workshop to develop new products from concept to production. Ensuring that all products meet requirements according to the machinery directive and subsequent CE mark and/or conform to legislative requirements for the given sales territories. During this time I was also given responsibility for the engineering sign off for the whole Compact products range of wheeled products and skid steer machines.

I was the lead Principal test and development Engineer, responsible for planning and implementing test, development and engineering sign off process for multiple mini/midi excavator machine development programs.

Senior test and development Engineer, responsible for all aspects of mini/midi excavator machine test, product development and engineering sign off process for any one particular machine development program.

Test and development Engineer, responsible for all aspects of mini/midi excavator machine test, product development and reporting from machine concept into production.

During this time, I completed a mechanical apprenticeship scheme and academic studies which enabled me to become a class 1 mining fitter and then subsequently a shift chargehand mechanic where I led a small team of fitters in all aspects of mining machinery installation, planned maintenance and breakdown & repair.
