This role involves-• Piloting and maintaining various types of ROV systems.• Being safety aware to include, awareness of legislation, Company Safety Management System and knowledge of own role and responsibilities and demonstrate safe work practises.• Working as part of a team, being aware of other team members roles and responsibilities.• Knowledge of emergency procedures.• Test, maintain, and operate ROV system under supervision.• Assist colleagues when required with planned maintenance.• Understand safety and environmental requirements during launch and recovery and deck operations.• Understanding use of Sonar, changes in range/scales, use of acoustic positioning systems used by ROVs.• Administration duties to include completion of dive records – video, audio and written.• Knowledge of fundamentals of ROV hydraulics systems, ROV electrics and electronics.• Assisting with changing major hydraulic electronic and electrical components.• A working knowledge of Company IMS and associated ROV procedures.

The role involves the following responsibilities:• Managing a small team of technicians to maintain electronic equipment at several internal and external sites at RAF Boulmer.• Managing the integrity of several types of communications equipment within these sites, including the Search and Rescue communications systems.• HSE responsibility for the site and the personnel working within these areas.• Managing daily shut down and maintenance of key electronics equipment without impacting operations.• Resource planning of personnel to ensure skilled technicians are on site at all times to facilitate unforeseen breakdowns.• Stock control of key equipment supplies to ensure that there are sufficient spares to deal with breakdown.• Providing technical leadership and training to junior technicians within the team in order to meet demands of station.

In this role I was an assistant to the Engineering Systems Manager (ESM). During this role I had to interpret the status of the UCCS system to ensure the operational capability of the Control and Reporting Centre (CRC) to police the Air Policing Area 1 (APA1), which consistently entailed liaising with Operations, civilian agencies and also foreign agencies to co-ordinate equipment outages and downtime. I was also tasked with carrying out the corrective and preventative maintenance of the UCCS system. When carrying out tasks on the UCCS system I had to ensure that all personnel were adhering to all H&S and Engineering standards.

No1 ACC is a mobile RAF Unit, which can be deployable anywhere in the world within 72 hours. I formed part of a small Engineering section, whose primary function was to maintain and monitor the Tactical Air Command and Control (TACC) system. The TACC system incorporates a series of smaller parts of equipment. The TACC system was built by Thales Air Operations.
