I have been advising clients, both corporate and individuals, on all aspects of financial planning for more than 35 years. I specialise in accruing wealth for my clients to ensure they enjoy a comfortable retirement, investing capital to achieve real growth as well as protecting their future by putting into place appropriate covers.I am convinced that having access to the whole of the market as an IFA is key to being able to recommend the best possible products to meet their needs and achieve their goals.I started off in the industry 35 years ago working for a Bank Assurer. On my first day I had to stand in the banking hall with a clipboard asking if people wanted any insurance. Fortunately things have moved on a wee bit since then! Since that inauspicious start so many years ago I have worked for a number of financial advisory practices, both small and large, and obtained my qualifications. I have met some wonderful and inspirational people many of whom, work colleagues and clients, have become firm friends. On the downside I have also been made redundant three times as well- not the nicest feeling in the world !Away from work I am married with three grown up children and have recently become a grandad for the first time to beautiful twin girls -and will happily show anyone baby pictures on request (and even when not requested!).When not engaged in strenuous granddad duties I enjoy swimming (In lockdown my wife and I swam the English Channel - to be honest, not in one go and in the swimming pool over a couple of months), running (I have completed thirteen marathons, 38 half marathons and a Kilomathon), cycling (I have cycled the Coast to Coast and the Sandstone Way in recent years), fishing- both coarse and game, sea and river, and also love live music - most years I volunteer at a number of smaller local Music Festivals.I played and coached rugby union for many years up to County level and still play touch rugby now. I am very proud to be a Director of both Northumberland RFU and my club, Ponteland RFC. For the past twelve years I have also co-commentated on Newcastle Falcons' matches for BBC Radio Newcastle -and, four or five times a season, on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.
