    Operation Section Chief
Mc-252 Deep Water Horizon Response-Pac-Fob, Terrebonne Parish Branch Through Marine Safety Consultan Jun 2010 - Sep 2010
    Pointe Aux Chenes, La
In response to the MC-252 Deep Water oil spill response effort, the forward operating base (FOB) Pointe aux Chenes (PAC), LA was established by the B.P. Incident Command System (ICS) and tasked with providing local fisherman and women the ability to protect their homeland waters. Under the FOB Branch Manager, I served as Operations Section Chief within the command staff, responsible for all operation activities including but not limited to the establishment of the Forward Operating Base, directing the response operations under the Unified Response Plan, coordinating the on and off shore response efforts using local and professional responders. Utilizing a response team of over 150 plus vessels and personnel we created task force groups, responding to a tremendous amount of territory daily without any significant injuries, working long hours in diverse weather conditions. At times our forward operating base operated with close to 300 personnel. Under the PAC FOB Command Staff, using a mostly local force of fishing vessels we installed and recovered over a million feet of absorbent and harbor protective boom in and about the bayous and waterways of Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish within Terrebonne Bay. The men and women working within the command staff worked long and hard hours within the community of Pointe aux Chenes establishing good will, trust and a truly well trained professional work force that accomplished a tremendous amount of work protecting local waters and sacred tribal lands.Pointe aux Chenes Forward Operating Base was closed at the end of the response phase of operations in late September 2010. Thanks to the B.P. ICS, the men and women of Pointe aux Chenes, were given the opportunity to protect their homelands and provide their families with much needed funds during the fishing blackout.
