In Feb 2020, I joined the Board of Directors at Shield Services Group

I was brought into the Shield Services Group business, to add to the already wealth of experience and knowledge that exists within one of the industry leaders, with a proud 40 year history. Shield Services Group are a well established multi disciplined national company with contracts both in mainland UK and overseas. The business service offerings include Asbestos Remediation, Insulation, Scaffolding, Mechanical & Electrical, Fire & Security, Demolition, Flooring and Marine Divisions.

I had the responsibility for all aspects of the day to day running of the Cardiff & Exeter business units. My duties include and are not limited to the monitoring of P&L, delivery of budgets and targets, timely financial reporting, financial implications on current and planned contracts, staff welfare and business development.

I was brought into the business to turn it from a loss making unit within Mowlem to a successful part of the division. Upon commencement of my employment the business was loss making at -£700k pa. At the end of my employment we had a revenue of £3.2m. My duties included and were not limited to the monitoring of P&L, delivery of budgets and targets, timely financial reporting, financial implications on current and planned contracts, staff welfare and business development.During this period, I was also Account Manager for the national HSBC account which entailed the coordinating and undertaking of the removal of asbestos from approximately 200 HSBC Banks throughout the UK.

I was brought into the company with a small management team consisting of a Regional Director and a Quantity Surveyor. My role included the direct reporting of all contract and site matters to the Regional Director. My duties also included the monitoring of all contract managers in the carrying out of their duties from estimating stage through to contract completion, with the monitoring of the financial position on contracts. In addition to the contract works, my position within the company was also to ensure standard of work was maintained and client delivery at all times to ensure business development.
