Dean R. MonD.R. MonGroup, Inc. Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer A native of Cuba who immigrated to the United States at the age of 14, Dean R. Mon established MonGroup Properties in 1985 as a New Jersey-based development company which built high-end, single family homes in Garden State towns including Middletown, Sea Girt, Florham Park, Plainfield and Livingston, among others. As his development career progressed, Dean intuitively identified a significant void within the state’s homebuilding industry – one where the residential needs of New Jersey’s workforce were not being realized. After a decade in business, Dean not only altered his business model, but the mission of his company. Now, MonGroup would strive to give everyone the opportunity to live in a decent home, in a good neighborhood, that would comfortably fit their budget. Currently, Dean serves as the First Vice Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), a prestigious leadership position in the organization and industry, and is slated to become its Chairman in 2020, the first Hispanic in 75 years. Dean was also inducted into the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA) in 1996 and named the NJBA Builder of the Year in 1998. In 2000, he received the NJBA Affordable Housing Award. Also considered an advocate for sustainability, Dean is focused on building high-quality, multi-family communities for residents to live in a healthy environment. A New Jersey resident since 1964, Dean attended Newark College of Engineering where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, achieving the rank of sergeant, and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.
