Dean is a successful, senior operating executive with over 20 years of experience in the alternative investment industry. He has held both C-suite and board level positions. Dean has led founder-owned and private equity-backed businesses in the financial technology and fund service sectors through rapid growth and to a successful exit. He is often interviewed as an industry expert about how technology is impacting alternative investment firms.Dean currently is a Managing Director, Head of the Capital Administration within Alter Domus (AD), a global fund services provider. Dean leads the Capital Administration division that leverages its proprietary technology solution to provide alternative investment firms with waterfall and carried interest solutions. Dean is responsible for all aspects of the group and sits on AD’s North American Leadership Group. He joined Alter Domus in June, 2021 through its acquisition of Investors Economic Assurance (IEA). Dean was President at IEA and responsible for the growth and management of the firm. Under his leadership, IEA became the global leader in providing technology-enabled capital administration solutions to the alternative investment industry with a strong blue-chip client base. Specifically, he focused on business development, financial management, client service delivery and strategic initiatives. Dean led the sale of IEA to Alter Domus. He also leveraged his relationships and experience as a private equity investor to help manage and grow the organization. Prior to joining IEA, Dean spent over 13 years in the private equity industry. Most recently, he was a partner at a New York-based private equity firm. His responsibilities included, but were not limited to, deal sourcing, leading due diligence, portfolio management, and managing relationships with Limited Partners, co-investors, and debt providers. Dean has served on a number of Boards with responsibilities including financial management, HR, vendor relationships and operations. Dean started his career at a strategic consulting firm serving Fortune 500 companies, where he led strategy and research engagements in North America, South America and Europe in various industries. Dean received his Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Vice Chairman of the Board for Avenues for Justice, a New York based non-profit that provides alternatives to incarceration for at risk youths in the Lower East Side and East Harlem.
