Chair of the council for The Association Of Opticians. Responsible for the transition from a college and association to a standalone association of Alberta. As the chair of the board I was responsible for creating a new board of directors, overseeing all aspects of creating a not for profit organization from the ground up. The AOA's mission is to Advocate, Educate, Communicate , and advance the profession of Optiicianry in Alberta and Across Canada.

Chair of the Vision Care Program Advisory Committee. Work with the vision care program to identify strengths and weakness then build upon them to create the new gold standard in optician training to address the industry shortage in the Canadian optical market.

I was an instructor for Business Development, Sales and Marketing for Student Opticians from January to September 2023Business Development is defined as the creation of long-term value for an organization from customers, markets, and relationships. This course will look at the relationship between traditional transactional sales, relationship selling and the evolution of the Business Development function. Market scanning and analysis, and the identification of potential growth markets, and key customers will be examined. Relationship, customer-centred selling techniques will be developed including relationship building, needs analysis, along with after sales customer care. Managing a sales force is explored including the effective organization of a sales department, forecasting and analyzing sales, recruiting and training a sales force, evaluating performance, and legal and ethical issues within the sales profession.

As a Council member for two teams I healed May different portfolios and positions within the board structure. Responsibilities varied depending on the position within the board and the portfolio I was managing. Positions healed within the board include, chair, vice chair, council member. Portfolios managed educational development, responsible for working with stakeholders to move from a credit based system to a learning based system to better the educational level of opticians in alberta. As the chair of the ACAO I would oversee all committees and help motivate and oversee the development of committee programs and development.

As part of a team member and a subject matter expert in the optical industry we identified the skills needed to educate students wishing to become an optician.

Oversee students and preceptors in the Calgary area taking the Northern Institute of Technology Optical program. I was responsible for overseeing the students and preceptors by making on site inspections and interviews to determine if the students where on the acquiring the skills needed to succeed as an optician in Alberta. At the end of the school year I would prepare a report on success and shortcomings to the advisory board for the board’s consideration
