Before forming the company with journalist and educator Joan Connell, he was global editor for ethics and standards at Thomson Reuters for three years and also served as Reuters' editorial head of consumer media.He has four decades of experience in text, broadcast and digital media and was a pioneer in digital journalism, serving as one of the first producers at MSNBC.com, part of the groundbreaking digital/broadcast joint venture between NBC News and Microsoft Corporation. He later became editor-in-chief and vice president at MSNBC and led MSNBC.com to dominance in digital news, working with fellow executives of NBC News and Microsoft to create a news organization that combined the broadcast expertise of NBC and the technical engineering assets of Microsoft.
