College Trainee at Irvine Marriott:- Trained as a Barista in Starbucks, taught how to process guest transactions using a POS system (MICROS) , learning Marriott's cash handling policies and procedure, and gaining customer service experience in an extremely high paced/high stress work environment.- Trained in Marriott's launch of "Fresh Bites", the evolution of in-room dining where Irvine Marriott transformed the traditional style of room service to a more sophisticated in-room dining experience. Main responsibilities: set-up guest orders, deliver orders to rooms, assist in expediting orders from the kitchen, process transactions, open and close the outlet and to train new associates.- Trained and work as a pool server during weekends. Main responsibilities: set-up the pool bar, take food and beverage orders, make basic cocktails, process guest transactions, and properly serve guests with very limited supervision.During my internship, I have been shadowing/training in all front of the house positions within the food and beverage department (food runner, busser, expeditor, bar back and server). I have been learning basic bar terminology, proper steps of service, upselling and suggestive selling to guests, wine, beer and liquor brands and varietals and the overall execution of breakfast, lunch and dinner service in a restaurant. My supervisor also taught and allowed me to process invoices and enter orders and requisitions into our Clear Sky software program which we use to conduct month end inventory and track our beverage cost. This is an amazing and unforgettable internship!
