Signal OfficerUs Army 2001 - 2008Arlington, Virginia, UsDuring my first tour in Korea, I was entrusted to work a position two labor grades higher than assigned. I used this time to develop my organizational and communication skills as I was responsible for strategic signal systems spread across 31 separate locations. After Korea I moved to Fort Campbell, KY and joined the team of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. I deployed twice with the Division for a total of two years in Iraq. I was tried and tested during my Iraq deployments and I feel strongly that my drive, character, self reliance, and passion to get the job done was firmly entrenched in my personal being during these experiences. My abilities as a project leader were further developed and tested as I personally planned and led five ground assault convoys through Iraq; covering over 1,200 square kilometers losing zero personnel or equipment. My abilities to think outside the box and collaborate to come up with innovative solutions to problems was noted during my time as a Battalion Communications officer; as I was faced with the constant challenge of maintaining data connectivity in Iraq. While stateside my responsibilities never ceased; being chosen to fill the position of Battalion Adjutant for the Special Troops Battalion in direct support of the 101st Division Staff - a position out of my normal duties. At the completion of my Army Career I had earned two Meritorious Service Medal and two Army Commendation Medal for my exemplary service to our Nation.
