I’m an independent learning & development consultant. My specialties are instructional design, content curation, and quality assurance of the user experience (UX) in learning and training activities. I analyze your specific goals, improve your communication strategy, and provide a better experience for your desired user base. My approach is empathy based consulting using a combination of written communication expertise, user and market research, design thinking principles, and technical experience in course development and LMS administration. Throughout my career I've worked as a professor, an academic research librarian, a software trainer, and a liaison between HigherEd faculty, Product Management professionals, and software developers. More importantly, I've experienced being a stressed student, a time-crunched customer, and a frustrated developer. I believe that problems in user experience (UX) are related to failures of communication. If the design of information is confusing, inaccessible, or overly complicated, users will have a bad experience. Poor user experience leads to poor transfer and retention of information and ultimately user disengagement. Negative comments concerning the UX/UI of a product will quickly damage the reputation of an organization regardless of the innovative nature of their product.
