Thrown (in the nicest way) out into the field by Ian Coomber, to replace the gentleman Brian Hampson upon his promotion, I was responsible for liaison with some great dealers in the 'patch'. Topmost was Lance Owen, later of the successful eponymous Vauxhall dealer group, followed by the memorable Chris Barry, Mike Goodchild and Byron Ross. Many other fine dealer folks encountered, who taught me a lot. Even those frustrating ones who smiled, said 'yes' and did nothing! Huge range, even in London, from the national sales-chart top contender Hanger at Scotts Corner to Julian Bengry, a tiny ex-Opel dealer in Surbiton. Wonderful business experience!
