I manage projects and oversee engineering staff that create a safer and more efficient transportation system, particularly for those who choose to walk or bike.

I developed and managed engineering projects, small and large, for the City of Hudson, Wisconsin. I also reviewed plans for development projects, developed engineering standards, and worked with members of the public and elected officials to make the City of Hudson a better place!

I designed roads, sidewalks, trails, utilities, and everything in between for the City of Red Wing's engineering department as well as review plans and studies submitted by others to the city for review. I managed many of the city's street and utility reconstruction projects, and I served on a number of committees and groups at the city, including the Complete Streets Staff Committee and the Red Wing 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update. I was involved with many city plans involving Engineering, such as leading our ADA Transition Plan development. I also handled utility permit applications and applications for work in city right of way. I really enjoyed getting to know and work with others in the community, and I was always trying to improve on our processes, policies, and procedures to help improve the City of Red Wing!

Design and traffic work for a variety of pedestrian, bicycle, roadway, and multimodal projects

- Traffic Engineering; including simulation (Synchro/SimTraffic), trip generation (ITE handbooks), capacity analysis (including RODEL for roundabouts), intersection control analysis/reports (signal justification reports (SJR) and intersection control evaluation (ICE) reports for MnDOT), and safety (crash reports and research)- Geometric Design; including preliminary design and concepts, final design, and plan preparation for cities, counties, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (using Microstation software)- Construction Inspection and Observation, including grading, concrete, bituminous, turf, signing, and striping inspection

Inventoried guardrail and geometric features on the entire Wisconsin State Highway system for use in future safety improvement projects (cable median guardrail and replacement of substandard metal guardrail)

Assisted the Operations and Safety Department in the Superior office with various tasks, including bridge inspection, sign inventory, and alternate route signing.
