Senior Software EngineerCivicore Oct 2009 - Dec 2012In the short time working for CiviCore I spear headed the design and development of an application platform that allowed CiviCore to greatly increase it's development capacity. The entire system is developed with object orientated PHP on Zend Server and uses meta information stored in a MySQL database to drive the entire UI. By using our builder application, non-technical staff are able to create database systems for clients without the need to understand backend SQL or programming languages. In addition to the application framework I developed a UI for our search engine in order to make it more intuitive to our end users and allow them access to more meaningful data than they were previously able to access without the aid of a developer to create custom reports. This platform was used to deliver over 100 custom database solutions to non-profits around the world including the Colorado GivingFirst site who's "Colorado Gives Day" raises over $12 million in a single day every year.I was responsible for moving from all Windows based servers to cloud based Linux servers in order to lower costs and increase their ability to scale hardware to support their growing user base.While at CiviCore I also built CivicIndicators, a mapping and analysis engine built with Flex. Development ManagerEduss 2000 - 2009In the 10 years working at Eduss I rose from a junior programmer to the development manager for the entire company developing their educational software products. Over that time we developed our products from standalone desktop applications to complete client server solutions and eventually to a web based solution. As development manager I oversaw all development both in house and outsourced and was responsible for reporting to the board of directors and occasionally presenting to potential investors. I left Eduss with having been exposed to many different solutions and methodologies allowing me to approach any task with an open mind knowing that one solution does not fit every problem.
