I am passionate about the potential for technology to help people live in ways that are more enjoyable, meaningful, informed, connected, healthy and dignified.I am currently completing a PhD in Interaction Design at the University of Technology, Sydney.Some highlights include:+ 10 years experience as an Information Systems and Interaction Design researcher with Australia’s CSIRO investigating collaboration technologies to support remote group work. + Led an AusAid Interaction Design project researching the use of low-cost, low-bandwidth ICT to connect scientists in Australia with their counterparts in rural Indonesia, South Africa and Bangladesh. + Initiated and designed a major CSIRO national research initiative that designed, implemented and commercialised a tele-health system that allowed cardiologists and ultra-sound specialists to undertake remote consultations using high-quality video, audio.+ Managed multi-agency, multi-stakeholder international research projects with budgets in excess of AUD$5M- across Indonesia, South Africa and Australia.+ Published 14 papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences.+ Some recent international engagements have included being: an invited speaker at the OECD’s conference on Innovative Rural Service Delivery in Cologne, Germany; an invited visitor to the World Bank's ICT policy group in Washington DC, and; an invited participant in the Global Research Alliance (GRA) Digital Futures strategy formulation meeting in Kuala Lumpur.+ Delivered presentations at six international conferences including Roskilde, Denmark (PDC2012), the University of Toronto, Canada (PDC 2004), Stanford University, USA (CSCL 1999); University of Melbourne (OZCHI 2009); EFITA Grosetto, Italy (EFITA 1997) among others.Specialties: Interaction Design, Ethnography, Digital Ethnography, User Experience Design, Soft Systems Research, Action Research, Google Enterprise Search
