Business Development Executive
My role at DGM was focused around running the 'Temporary Sales Solutions' arm of the business. In a nutshell it is a service somewhere in between telemarketing and temporary staffing in the way that they have a dedicated team who's jobs are to step into companies for a few days a week to fulfill any resource deficits they have until a permanent solution can be found. The main benefit of the service is that rather than having to run interviews, draw up contracts etc you are simply billed an hourly rate with no set time frame. Meaning we are there as a solution as long as you need us to be. In my role I met with prospective clients to understand the nature of their business and it's products/services. I can say with some confidence I had an ability to place myself in the position of the client and quite quickly grasp their ethos and passion behind their product. We would then go to work putting together a campaign that one of our team would work on for an undefined amount of time whilst the company continues to try and find a permanent solution to their problem i.e. hiring new staff, reallocating budget.
Membership Manager
After being in the position of sales consultant for a while I was given the opportunity to be the sales manager of the Altrincham site, as this had been something i'd strived towards for some time within the company I accepted the position. My job role consisted of day to day management of the sales team, including daily, weekly and monthly reviews on past activity, training and to contribute to the daily sales targets through my own database of prospective members. I was also charged with planning the marketing strategy each month.I came on board to a club that hadn't hit a target in over 18 months and within my first three months saw a steady increase in the percentage of target achieved each month until in my third month we hit target and exceeded it by 6%. This is by far one of the proudest moments I have experienced in Total Fitness as throughout my time there we were short staffed having only myself and one other sales consultant in the sales office to deliver a target intended for a three man team.
Membership Sales Consultant
My role as Membership Sales Consultant in Crewe covered a broad spectrum of responsibilities. First and foremost it was my responsibility to draw in prospective members to the gym, this involved working in four key areas, social media, inreach, outreach and Marketing. Once I had my leads it was down to me to push for an appointment with them through cold calling and email campaigns, it was also my responsibility to keep on top of the appointments I was setting to ensure their attendance. Next came the sales process itself. My daily sales were made up of two categories. Appointments which had been booked using the above process and walk in enquirers. My sales process involved a needs analysis, a tour and a price presentation. The key to selling well was to build rapport with the prospective member and connect on an emotional level... These were people who were here to change their lives for the better after all, many just needed the support to convince them it was time to make the commitment. Finally once I had signed a member up I had to manage all of the administrative jobs behind it to ensure that nothing came back that would leave the sale pending, I also took it upon myself to keep in touch with my members to make sure everything was running smoothly and that they were happy. Before I left this role I was in the top five across the country out of over fifty membership consultants for consistently hitting my sales targets.
Receptionist
My role as a receptionist was incredibly varied. My main responsibilities were to man the reception desk, to direct calls, process retail purchases, up-sell products and to maintain the cleanliness around the desk. However I was also required to assist in closing of the gym, manning the cafe, and also general cleanliness of our lower gym floor. In my time on the reception desk I implemented a number of changes which I believe led to my promotion to duty manager support whilst still working on the desk. I brought about a hygiene check sheet that was to be signed by DM's at both mornings and evenings. I was also able to improve the efficiency of their swimming lessons by teaching simple spreadsheet management along with how to mail merge.
Club Attendant
As a club attendant my job was to maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of my club. First and foremost it was my job to attend to the changing rooms. This was my main work space as it was often the area in which the highest concentration of members would come through. My main roles we're to clean the wet and dry areas, empty bins, and also to periodically deep clean each individual section of the changing rooms e.g. Toilet area, lockers, sauna. Other than this I was also charged with keeping the equipment upstairs clean and doing regular health and safety checks, I was also responsible for the cleanliness of the foyer and membership sales area. During my time as club attendant I was very thorough in the jobs i was tasked, and even developed a cleaning task sheet which was later adopted by every department in the club, as a way of tracking what jobs were being completed.
