Deanna Erin Conners is a New York-based science and technology professional. She holds a PhD in Toxicology and has more than 10 years of professional experience in the field of scientific communication.In 2021, Dr. Conners joined Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as a senior science editor to help develop and implement a scientific editing program for faculty. She is currently the director of the editing shared resource and is immensely grateful to have a front row seat to the latest advances in cancer research and care.In her previous work in collaboration with large scientific editing companies, Dr. Conners edited over 1800 papers for scientists from around the world, on diverse topics ranging from astrophysics to zoonotic diseases. She also wrote a monthly science blog for EarthSky, an award winning media company based in Austin, Texas. Her blog titled “Tiger sharks are helping seagrass recover” was named in the Five Best Ideas of the Day feature for November 20, 2017, by the Aspen Institute. She has had successful grant proposal writing experiences throughout her career.Dr. Conners has over 10 years of laboratory and field experience. In the laboratory, Deanna designed and carried out many experiments. Her research largely focused on oxidative stress caused by environmental contaminants, and she would like to encourage everyone to eat their broccoli because it is high in antioxidants. In the field, Deanna worked in various settings including estuaries, coral reefs, lakes, large rivers, and headwater streams. She enjoys being outdoors and can often be found hiking, biking, birding, and snapping nature photographs in the Great Lakes region anytime she gets a break from working on her computer.Deanna has excellent analytical, communication, and organization skills. She is proficient in working with Microsoft Office software.
