I am the staff educator, Infection Control Nurse and Staff Nurse at a 180 bed skilled nursing and long term care facility. I supervise staff on the floor, in some cases medical emergencies, supervise wound care and medication passes. I have created several excellent relationships with local nursing schools, including CNA, LPN and RN programs.

Case managed 8-15 patients weekly, providing techniques and instructing aides on appropriate ADL care, assisting in managing their financial needs with a social worker and coordinating palliative medications and treatments with primary care providers. Provided education and instruction to hospice aides, patients and their families on safe infection control and safety measures utilized in care of patient. Provided psychosocial and existential counseling to both patients and their caregivers while providing end of life education.

I welcomed all new residents, set up medications, provided information and performed the admission assessment on all new admissions to the facility. In my free time, I assisted on many of the units passing medications and doing treatments.

Lead several co-workers during the shift, communicated on a very regular basis with physicians and specialists, worked with patients’ and their families, while providing skilled nursing care.

Volunteer RN taking histories and expediting patients, assisting the clinicians in treatment until promotion at full time job where I was forced to quit due to time restrictions.

Went into the community and provided flu and pneumonia vaccines at different sites while educating on the importance of yearly vaccinations.

I assisted clients in their own homes with ADL’s, medication and treatments, while educating the client and their families on the disease process.
