Schedules appointments, provides basic information, transfers calls, handles emergent issues, pages physicians in office or in the hospital with call back requests or consults. Investigate what the client is calling for and either get the patient or client to the appropriate person or handle the information via the practice policy to provide the service needed for the patient or client. Handles insurance information and makes sure we accept the patient's insurance, the patient has a referral and authorization if needed. Uses basic medical and practice policy knowledge to determine if we can see the patient for their current issue. Reviews all insurance and contact information with the patient to make sure we can see them and contact them as needed. Reviews messages left on voicemail by patients or with Call Experts answering service and handles the information as needed. Uses gMED Gastro, Call Experts, KLARA, Microsoft Office Suite, Epic and Cerner systems.I also check in patients at the front desk. Making sure the patient has all demographic information needed, does not owe a fee up front for their visit, and is ready to provide current symptom information to the Patient Care Technician or Nurse who will be calling them back. Provide assistance to patients who come in to do lab work, with questions, or to pick up something.
