I started working in a factory in 1998 as a union employee laborer. I learned how to operate machines to maximize my pay. In 2000, I interviewed for and was awarded a Safety Coordinator position responsible for creating monthly training material for 3 departments. This training was created in PowerPoint and presented in person during safety meetings. Due to downsizing in 2001, I went back to Production. I needed to work Midnight shift for my family so I learned how to operate a forklift to be qualified in the Warehouse department. In 2005, a new opportunity came for me to learn a new line. I was a key part in the startup up of a line relocated to Massillon. Team Leader positions became available so I decided to put my hat in the ring and secured one in Warehouse. I stayed there for 13 years. During that time, I led a team of 13 to 20 people daily, organized our portion R&D testing, helped material planners with purchasing and daily tasks, implemented practice to reduce waste in raw materials (saved $1,000,000 in 2018 and had $500,000 in 4 months of 2019) before I was recruited in April 2019 to MRO Admin. Maintenance purchasing was new for me, but didn't take long for me to be comfortable in the role. I have completed some 5S projects to be better organized and have more on deck. Each year I have an average of $25000 in savings for price comparing, repairing, negotiating with vendors for better pricing. In 2023, I was promoted to Plant Services Buyer responsible for purchases for Maintenance, Warehouse and Operations. January 2024, that position was dissolved and I have returned to MRO buying with vending machines, binstock and Maintenance services duties added. I have excellent relationships with our vendors. I am also responsible for ensuring invoices get posted and paid timely. I am looking for a more challenging position with higher pay for my skills.
