Designed and implemented a marketing and public relations strategy for this nine-provider, independent and multi-faceted pediatric practice. Worked with entire staff to create and implement best practices in customer service, communications and patient recruitment. Created internal and external marketing and communications plans to implement before, during and after the practice’s move from 7,500 square feet of space in University Heights to 15,000 square feet of newly built space in South Euclid in March 2007. Planned and promoted two May 2007 Grand Opening events (one for families and one for officials). Brought local and regional exposure through work with The Plain Dealer, Crain’s Cleveland Business, Fox-8 News, Properties magazine, The Sun Newspapers, Cleveland Jewish News and WCPN, 90.3 FM. Worked with parenting program to professionalize the practice’s education division. Selected web designer to oversee creation of new site at www.drsenders.com.

Oversaw production of 52+ special sections per year from story idea generation to proofing final pages. Worked in concert with design editors to plan art elements. Utilized strong ties in the community to generate timely and interesting story ideas. Assigned and edited stories with free-lance and staff writers. Worked with Managing Editor to produce weekly news content for the entire paper. Guided the reporting process and worked as a writing coach with staff. Won First Place Press Club of Cleveland Award for series “The Business of Poverty,” 2006; won Society of Professional Journalists award for series “Cleveland Schools: A Future Uncertain,” 2006 with reporter Shannon Mortland.

Supervised reporting staff of 20 in main office and two bureaus of this Gannett newspaper. Oversaw five assistant metro editors. Planned news budget and developed project story ideas. Supervised award-winning staff coverage of Woodstock ’99 in Rome, N.Y. Won New York Associated Press Award for page design of stories about John Glenn’s return to space.

Worked with Managing Editor to manage reporting staff of 10, designed pages and supervised writing. As a reporter, covered Portage County Courts, including three murder trials. Helped to gain a convicted felon early parole after his jury admitted being unconvinced of his guilt at the time of trial.

Covered public and private schools and colleges in Ashtabula and Lake counties. Won Ohio Associated Press Honorable Mention Award for self-directed series on special education in Ashtabula County.
