I received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, where I graduated summa cum laude. I am a licensed counselor at Chrones Counseling, where I treat individual adults, as well as couples, in Illinois, through Telehealth. I specialize in working with people impacted by trauma, depression, and anxiety.I am also the founder of Tholáge(TM) Wellness, which can be found at Tholage.com. I developed a neural-based mental health treatment involving two main protocols that help move people into the Window of Tolerance: an activating protocol and a deactivating protocol. The treatment is called Tholáge(TM) Neuropsychotherapy (formerly RELEASE). The activating protocol “directly” addresses emotion suppression (ES), believed to produce the symptoms of depressive, anxious, and trauma disorders, as well as many other mental disorders, through a novel exercise shown to release norepinephrine, which stimulates the emotional-memory center of the amygdala. The deactivating protocol “indirectly” addresses ES, through novel exercises shown to release oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin, reducing fear, allowing people to process suppressed emotions. The "direct" treatment protocol just completed its second study, a multi-university study with data collection through the Universities of Wisconsin System, exploring it for the treatment of depression and emotion dysregulation. Both studies yielded large "effect sizes," indicating the treatment is effective. The treatment garnered the interest of faculty previously at Northwestern University. The three of us had a scientific article about the connection between eye movements and emotion regulation published by the peer-reviewed Journal of Mental Health Counseling. Two of us had an article about the pilot study published in Counselling and Psychotherapy Research. I do presentations on all of these subjects at national, regional, and state conferences, as well as part of paid presentations before therapists' groups and others.Licensed therapists and masters interns (not practicum students), as well as nurses, psychiatrists, and medical doctors who would like to be trained and certified in Tholage can register at Tholage.com. Counselors, socials workers, and marriage and family therapists will receive 30 CEUs after the training.Tholáge(TM) is also forming a division that will be providing organizational training on the use of these protocols for enhancing motivation, focus, neuroplasticity, learning, memory, and workplace satisfaction for employees.
