I oversee the development and management of the Member's personal legislation. I provide comprehensive briefings on critical legislative issues and often act as the principal representative in legislative meetings. Analyzing legislation and offering policy consultation on key areas of interest to Senator Glazer are central to my role, along with conducting research and formulating legislative proposals. Additionally, I mentor a dedicated team of 5 to 7 legislative staff to ensure efficient workflow and effective support for Senator Glazer's legislative priorities.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, I led policy analysis efforts and negotiated with government stakeholders to advocate for policies benefiting our state park system. Through thorough research, I identified key issues and crafted advocacy priorities to drive targeted and impactful initiatives. Collaborating internally, I transformed complex policy matters into compelling communications, enabling our organization to effectively engage policymakers and the public. By navigating government affairs intricacies, I played a crucial role in advancing the Foundation's mission to preserve California's natural treasures.

I acted as a spokesperson for the association’s public policy platform to the legislature and the Department of Insurance. I providing legislative updates at quarterly meetings with PAC members and led board discussion to solidify policy priorities for 2020 and 2021 legislative sessions.

After finishing my fellowship, I was hired to to work full-time on the staff of Majority Leader Calderon. I successfully staffed legislation to increase the transparency of student loan debt terms, establish a long-term care insurance task force and create an income-based repayment plan for DREAM loans. Additionally, I managing stakeholder groups to advance Majority Leaders legislative priorities. Finally, I advised the Majority Leader on higher education, elections, insurance, and banking and finance policy areas.

The culminating experience of my fellowship was coordinating all aspects of an informational hearing on the student debt crisis including seeking approval from the Assembly Speaker’s office, preparing background material and securing eight expert witnesses. During my fellowship, I managed four legislative bills with tasks including researching and pitching original bill ideas, building coalitions, negotiating amendments, securing votes and writing all necessary material including talking points, press releases and factsheets

I had the astute honor of advocate for 17,000 students at university meetings, city council meetings, and other forums involving student interests. Additionally, I solicited Board of Director feedback on strengths and opportunities for growth within the Associated Students. My highlight of the year was hosting a community and campus safety summit to draft collaborative policy agenda. I loved helping students amplify their voice in the Chico community.

I was appointed to oversee the use of the Associated Students Union Fee that provides direct support to our Student Union building, our Wildcat Recreation Center, and various programs that work to enhance student life at CSU, Chico. My highlight was soliciting opinions from students, faculty and staff to establish the mission and vision of our newly created Wildcat Leadership Center.

After serving as a paraprofessional, I was promoted to mentor incoming staff of peers in professional and personal capacity during second year. The professional staff entrusted me with autonomously managing committee of paraprofessionals in planning four events during a year-long event series.

In this role, I developed and executed events with up to 500 attendees highlighting underrepresented communities, examples of events include welcome BBQ’s, a weekend leadership retreat, and a multicultural women’s conference. I also created and delivered diversity trainings to campus organizations.

On a team of twenty leaders on campus, I familiarized incoming freshman and transfer students to the campus, policies and procedures through small group discussion. I loved reconnecting with my students in the school year following orientation and knowing I helped them feel comfortable on campus.

On a team of five, I programmed intentional events on campus that highlight underrepresented communities. The highlight of the year was watching students have dance off in the center or nap on our couches who only months earlier felt they were not connected to CSU, Chico. It was an honor to design a welcoming environment in the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center to foster authentic relationships.

As an intern, I strategized and executed public relations for LGBTQ+ events on campus. I also created a safe place for survivors of sexual assault and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
