Trustees are responsible for creating and sustaining the Foundation's mission, approving long range plans and ensuring financial solvency, managing resources, ensuring adequate resources and monitoring programs and services for consistency with the Foundation’s vision and goals. Trustees establish prudent investment philosophies, policies and practices; approve and monitor the budget; and identify, cultivate and steward donors.

Many nonprofit organizations--especially those with limited resources and a smaller staff--struggle to make the most of their operations. I founded Fundrazyr to consult with these nonprofits and help them achieve their philanthropic goals.A lack of awareness means that organizations often leave money and opportunities on the table. MONA celebrates the state's artistic culture and heritage through the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of Nebraska art. As a member of the board of directors, my contributions include:• Annual fundraising plan development• Social media strategy• Lead board member for Nebraska Now artist exhibitions, which profile and promote contemporary artists from the state.

For more than three decades, the Bemis Center has provided artists from around the world dedicated time, space, and resources to conduct research and to create new work. I serve on the Development Committee, where I advise the center about fundraising strategy and operations.Frequently cited as one of the top international residency programs, the Bemis Center offers artists private live/work studios, financial support, technical/administrative assistance, and opportunities for intellectual discourse about contemporary art through free public programs, such as panel discussions, lectures, and knowledge-sharing workshops. FIG supports the Midwest's emerging fashion designers to give them a leg up in a highly competitive industry. My contributions include:• Advise FIG leadership on fundraising strategies and board policies.• Organize fundraisers, friendraisers and award programs to raise FIG's profile among potential supporters. • Support educational workshops on design, pricing and intellectual property.

Fund for Teachers enriches personal and professional growth through grants that allow educators to travel abroad to enrich the learning experience of their students and communities.Participated in a blind judging process to analyze and review teachers' grant proposals. The fund awarded more than $200,000 to 31 educators during my tenure.

GROW Nebraska provides marketing support and networking opportunities to small businesses in the state, ranging from fashion to gourmet food to bed and breakfasts.I served as a consultant on GROW's marketing and promotion initiatives and collateral.

The luncheon series is a fundraising event that educates people about multiple sclerosis and raises funds to combat the disease.I worked with the MS Society's regional director to establish an annual fundraising luncheon in a new area of Nebraska. I served as MC and chair of the first event, including securing the venue and sponsors, and recruiting and managing volunteers.

One of Nebraska's largest fundraising events, the Cattlemen's Ball raises money for cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Cancer Center.• Solicited and managed the activities of 49 chairpersons for an event that drew 3,000 participants and raised $500,000.• Established "Give Cancer the Boot" as the event theme.• Established and strengthened relationships with the media to drive market awareness.• Negotiated promotional and other marketing materials.• Oversaw production of high-impact multi-media presentation to communicate the value and benefit of corporate sponsorship and volunteerism.• Evaluated and awarded 11 grants that provided a total of $40,000 to local health-related nonprofits.

• Served as co-founder and chair of a weekend of wine-tasting, jazz, and gourmet food to benefit Nebraska's only free medical and dental clinic serving patients who are ineligible for insurance or government assistance.• Solicited in-kind gifts and corporate sponsorships that raised over $400,000.• Established the annual Physician Volunteer of the Year Award friend-raiser to spread awareness of the clinic's work, attract physician volunteers, and cultivate potential donors.
