I'm a branding and packaging problem-solver.I use design thinking to create thoughtful, innovative solutions for both the brand and the end user.Every solution starts with a blank page, a ballpoint pen, a cup of earl grey and an open mind. Then I get to work!I've been working in design for almost 10 years. My work is on retailers around the world, for both niche and well-known brands. There's not a role in the design process that I haven't been involved in: art-working, product development, packaging design, brand strategy...You name it, chances are, I've done it.Along the way, I've developed new working practices for more efficient design and production processes, as well as a metric shedload of great products and brands.I'm known as The Problem Solver.A straight-talking, resilient, ambitious creative who can role with the punches and thrives on the business of design: always pushing got the best possible solutions. In my spare time, I am an avid sketch-noter and creator of what I call ‘nudenotes’. I started this personal project to document as much as I can on my journey to become a better creative professional.I’m always on the lookout for new perspectives to enrich my design work: books, blogs, talks... you name it, chance are I’ve seen it, read it, and created some nudenotes on it.As the old saying goes, you don’t know something until you can teach it to others. So I co-founded a blog to share my knowledge: Night Sky Creative, a collective of creatives with a shared mission for helping businesses and brands succeed through informative and interesting content.Other than nudenotes and blogging, I’m partial to a beer and a BBQ – any excuse to fire up the grill with a pint in hand!

Chief Creative Officer (Cco)Shelf Jan 2024 - PresentFerndown, England, United KingdomBrand Master, Preacher of Good Design, Guardian of Messaging… call me what you will, but my official title is Chief Creative Officer at SHELF.Every day is different at SHELF, but here’s a snapshot of what I bring to the table:-Leading the creative strategy of SHELF — with commercial success as the goal, and process and design carving the path.-Overseeing all creative projects, from discovery session to development, ‘til they’re out there in the world — both digital and traditional media, including (but not limited to): branding, commercial packaging, product design, marketing materials, investment decks, graphic design, trade show stands, and everything in-between.-Taking complex creative and business problems and providing simple, effective solutions as the architect and advocate behind all creative processes at SHELF.-Internal comms — design, writing, sharing, and updating.-Collaborating with different teams across the company, making sure every voice is heard and valued.-Nurturing a creative, supportive, and growth-focused team culture.-Leading discovery sessions and balancing client input with market and consumer needs for cohesive, comprehensive solutions with a creative, strategic, and business perspective.-Aligning with key stakeholders and clients, ensuring we get the information we need to diagnose before we prescribe.-Not trendy, but trend-led — always open to new technologies and techniques, with a keen eye for the next big thing in the market.-Eradicating the mundane and elevating sales through inventive, practical, creative solutions.-Breathing life into new brands and giving a new lease of life to established brands.-Keeping things waffle-free — no “blue-sky thinking”, “low-hanging fruit”, or “make it pop”. Clear and concise — no room for *💩*.For all of us at SHELF, the goal isn’t surprise — the best feedback is “That’s exactly how I imagined it but better”. -
Creative Solutions ManagerShelf Oct 2021 - Jan 2024Ferndown, England, United KingdomIt's pretty vague job title, right? My boss described my role as:"The science and systems behind creative branding and packaging solutions."That's it in a nut shell. It's not a glitch - the same position, just on steroids. The creative communications team at A2V have evolved into SHELF by listening to customer’s feedback, requesting additional support to expand brand reach and promote sell-through on and off the shelf. That’s where we come in, introducing SHELF - a full-service marketing partner to A2V. My role remains the same as my previous role at A2V, providing creative solutions, but with a new focus on branding, some say I'm a Brand Master, but I'll let the work do the talking. This role was created just for me, based on all the work I've done in my first year at A2V. I'm leveraging all my previous experience, of packaging and branding, in a new and exciting way.SHELF-ies are the Guardians of the Messaging. We get right under the skin of branding, product development, trend and marketing. We diagnose, before we prescribe. We create a captivating brand story, eating plain for breakfast! We live for establishing consistency, aligning brand decks with core values and ultimately creating products that are sure to resonate with our customers and their consumers. Our goal is to banish boredom, and make sales soar. -

Providing creative solutions where ever they are needed.Everything from, product format libraries to presentation templates, brand building to making excel sheets look pretty. Middleweight Designer (Home & Lifestyle Category)Wild & Wolf Ltd Nov 2015 - Nov 2017BathAs a Middleweight Designer, I followed my calling in developing new products and packaging. Taking on more responsibility, projects and products It was during this time I began to develop a deeper skill set and knowledge in developing brands. In these two years I began to move away from product design and development focusing more on packaging design and branding. This shines through in the work I created during this time. I was particularly proud of my work on the reimagined Ridley’s toys and games range called Utopia, behind the scenes I championed the development of creating branding documents to better develop products for future Ridley’s ranges. The brands, products and packaging I designed in this time could be found in stores world wide. I was particularly proud to work on brands like The Beano, Scrabble, Ted Baker, Polaroid, Mini Moderns and Orla Kiely. Plus many own brands like Ridley’s Utopia, Ridley’s Games Room, Ridley’s Magic, Wild & Wolf: Telecommunications, misc. and Wild Wood to name a few.During this time I discovered my niche within Wild & Wolf, to develop packaging solutions. The unique combination of my skills in branding, product design and knowledge of production process meant I am able to quickly develop design solutions that work on cost, feasible to produce, promote the brands values and appeal to consumers. -
