Dean Somes is currently the Senior Wealth and Portfolio Manager at Three Bell Capital where he constructs, implements and oversees investment portfolios and accounts, utilizes tax-advantaged planning and coordinates complicated estate plans. In addition, he serves on the investment committee for Three Bell. Formerly, Dean was Vice President and Wealth Manager at Bank of New York Mellon and Chief Investment Officer for Cross Capital Partners, LP in Dallas, Texas. At seventeen, Dean discovered his passion for the stock markets while employed for a Dallas-based hedge fund, Tarpon Partners, and continued trading throughout his years at Boston College, where he earned dual B.A. degrees. In 2004, Dean joined Cross Capital Partners, a Texas family office focusing on investment management. He later became Cross Capital Partners’ lead trading authority in 2007 as a result of his ability to interpret complex and abstract ideas and a unique blend of technical and macroeconomic analytical skill. After Cross Capital, Dean became one of the few wealth managers in the DFW area for The Bank of New York. He worked with the team to help build custom portfolios for high net worth families, nonprofits and endowments. Dean was also the only person in the wealth management division at BNY to serve on the national Fixed Income Committee. In addition to managing the portfolio at Cross Capital, Dean provided institutional technical analysis research to the team of fund managers at the first short-only actively managed ETF named “The Active Bear”, (NYSE: HDGE) and the Forensic Accounting ETF (NYSE: FLAG).Dean has been a guest speaker on America Tonight, a national radio program hosted by Emmy-award winner, Kate Delaney, 1190AM Dallas/Ft. Worth as well as several internet television shows focusing on the stock markets. He has been a guest economics lecturer at ESCP London, the world's oldest business school. He is also a published author, having written chapters in two books titled, Your Options Handbook (Wiley, 2011), by Jared Levy and What’s Behind the Numbers? (McGraw-Hill, 2012), by John DelVecchio and Tom Jacobs, which was awarded the 2013 Book of the Year by Stock Trader's Almanac.
