An accomplished Cyber security professional with over 20+ years of experience in Cyber & Information Security and deeply motivated to ensure results are returned from Cyber Security investments and improving security posture. Through many years of dealing with Cyber Security aspects, I am able to understand/apply technical threats and communicate them to many levels within an organisation in a business friendly context to assist in determining the overall risk & return to the company.During this time, I have been operated within complex technical environments that require balancing local/global organisational policies, advising the C-level of Cyber Security issues, dealing with domestic and international regulators as well as auditors, managing teams, ITIL based operations (incident, problem and change), working knowledge of architecture paradigms (SABSA and TOGAF), complex and abstract problem solving and ensuring process, people and technology are used efficiently to secure the environment and successful compliance.I maintain a strong passion for a number of disciplines including: Cyber Threat Intelligence, Security Operations, Incident Response, IT Forensics, Network & Information Security and Operating technology environments.I have additional experience in telecommunications, eLearning and designing Cyber Security exercises to test a nation’s resilience to Cyber based attacks.Currently the Tech Area Lead / Head of Department for Cyber Defence at ANZ, I am responsible for looking after the operational Cyber Security needs for ANZ, but have also been involved in building and implementing ANZ’s Cyber Transformation Program which has seen an increase in ANZ's Cyber security maturity.Responsibilities include being a member of the extended technology leadership team at ANZ and directly reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) as well as undertaking team management, strategic planning and finance.I hold a PhD in Computer Science and speaks regularly at international/national and local conferences, seminars, round tables and on occasion I provide advice to venture capitalists about the viability of technology before they invest.
