Since 2011, I have maintained a consistent output of high-quality content as a Writer, Director and Creative Producer. Notable projects in recent years include:• In 2022, I wrote and directed my debut feature film for Disney Brazil (alongside my creative partner Katherine Chediak Putnam). Adapted from best-selling Brazilian young-adult novel Perdida, this $5 million AUD family film is currently in post-production, with a Brazilian theatrical release expected in mid-2023.• In 2020, I produced and wrote the short horror film Inferno, one of three projects selected for Screen Queensland’s highly competitive SQ Proof of Concept initiative.• In 2018, I wrote and directed the short horror film Stray, one of twelve projects selected for Screen Queensland’s highly competitive SQ Shorts initiative. The screenplay would go on to be nominated for an Australian Writers’ Guild Award for Best Short Screenplay.Since 2018, projects I have driven as a producer, director or screenwriter have received over $150,000 AUD of production and development investment from Australian screen agencies through competitive selection processes. My work has been recognised with official selections at some of the world’s most celebrated film festivals, including Sitges Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Dances with Films, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and many others.My track record in industry as a Producer and Director is notable for the scale and complexity of the productions I have undertaken. Recents productions have incorporated such diverse production challenges as working with weapons; working with pyrotechnics and explosives; period costumes; wire-assisted stunt work; fight choreography; set construction; complex prosthetics and special effects makeup; dance choreography; working with large groups of extras; working with animals; working with children; as well as 2D and 3D visual effects.

In early 2018, I joined TPR Media as a TV commercial director, working primarily with their clients in Australia’s musical theatre industry, including Disney Theatrical and the Gordon Frost Organisation (producers of The Book of Mormon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Kinky Boots).These commercials are complex productions with crews of upwards of 30 film and theatre professionals, complex choreography, rigorous approval processes, and clients who are extremely protective of their brands. As the director, my role is to provide vision and leadership, assess and solve problems quickly, and ensure we deliver on the client’s expectations. • Pitching and developing projects in response to the needs of clients• Breaking pitches down into storyboards and schedules• Leading large crews of diverse practitioners to a unified vision• Working within budgetary and time constraints• Working with non-film personnel, such as theatre actors, choreographers, dancers, musicians, and pyrotechnics technicians• Overseeing the editing process• Working with clients and external stakeholders through the review process to ensure the final piece meets their needs• Managing relationships with clients and external stakeholdersA highlight of time in this role was directing TV commercials for Disney Theatrical’s Australian productions of Frozen: The Musical and Aladdin: The Musical.

Griffith Film School is the largest film school of its kind in Australia, with a heavy emphasis on providing students with practical on-set experience and an understanding of the national and international film industry.In my role as a Lecturer, I have taught into every filmmaking discipline we offer, including Producing and Production Management; Directing; Screenwriting; Cinematography; Production Design; Sound; Editing and Post-Production; Work Integrated Learning; and Contextual Studies. However, I specialise in designing, convening and teaching into complex production-based courses with large enrolment numbers (140-230 students).My most notable contribution to our teaching is as the current convenor for our capstone production courses in both the Bachelor of Film and Screen Media Production and the Master of Screen Production. Coordinating these courses is a complex undertaking, with 14-20 student productions each year producing upwards of 4 hours of content over 154 shooting days.

As the sole video content producer in a team of over 40 marketing, communications, events, and publishing professionals, I was tasked with managing and executing the production of video projects through every step of the production process. Reporting to the university’s Brand Manager, I worked autonomously to create a diverse range of content, including video news releases promoting UQ’s excellence in research, high-end promotional content to prospective students and university partner, and light-hearted social media content promoting the highlights of campus life. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to:• Pitching and developing projects in response to the needs of the university• Undertaking the filming of video content in a wide variety of situations, from filming in hospitals to filming on a yacht at sea• Undertaking the editing, motion graphics, and sound editing work on video projects• Overseeing the logistics of video projects, including managing locations, liaising with talent, hiring freelancers where necessary, etc.• Tracking and managing the production of multiple video projects simultaneously• Overseeing the storage and handling of video equipment, ensuring best practice storage and maintenance processes are followed• Regularly reviewing video equipment to ensure production quality and capability keeps pace with industry standards• Providing expert advice and guidance to organisations across the university on video production

At ITaLI, I was a member of a small video production team responsible for creating online courses for distribution on Harvard and MIT’s Edx online education platform. Our team could find ourselves working on upwards of 100 videos a month, meaning that success in this role required having strong time and project management skills, the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, and well developed communication skills. Courses varied wildly in style and scope, ranging from a series of lectures delivered in front of green-screens to globe-trotting documentary-style courses. My responsibilities included, but weren’t limited to:• Undertaking the filming of video content in a wide variety of situations, both in studio and on location• Undertaking the editing, motion graphics, and sound editing work on video projects• Project managing the video production of individual courses• Working with learning designers and academics to script video content• Overseeing the logistics of video shoots, including managing locations and liaising with talent • Overseeing the storage and handling of video equipment, ensuring best practice storage and maintenance processes are followedA highlight in this role was production coordinating Global Media, War, and Technology, a globe-trotting documentary-style course featuring interviews filmed in 12 countries with global experts on the intersection of media, technology, and warfare such as Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept and Richard Gilbert of The Listening Post on Al Jazeera.
