At IBM, I am working as an AI Architect specializing in generative artificial intelligence. This is in addition to my cloud and full stack architect role. I am focused on creating platform neutral solutions leveraging the power of generative ai, but I have implemented these client solutions on both Azure and Watson.ai. In my prior role as Kubernetes/Openshift technical lead at one of the worlds largest airlines I was the last line of support and technical guidance for all of the stream-aligned development teams. This was done across a wide variety of technical stacks including AWS and Openshift on AWS (also known as ROSA). That was for an application Modernization, Containerization and Migration effort spanning hundreds of applications over multiple years. I contributed code, designed new containerization and migration patterns and most importantly I taught stream-aligned teams best practices and guiding principles suitable for the tech stack and business domain of each application. At IBM, I have worked on a long-term engagement and modernization effort for one of our largest clients in the insurance industry. My role there was as both lead full-stack architect and cloud architect helping to advise, build, move and service a distributed application once deployed on the Netflix OSS stack. The target move environment was Redhat Openshift running on the IBM Cloud. This project was completed successfully over the span of 2+ years. At IBM, I design, write, test and contribute code in a variety of languages in all of my engagements as the need arises. At IBM, I am a regular instructor and content contributor for our Generative AI Bootcamp, Complex Solutions Architecture and Site Reliability Engineering courses. At IBM, I leverage my extensive background in UI/UX design and development to guide stream-aligned development teams as the need arises. At IBM I contribute to design thinking sessions to create original and unique software in the Site Reliability Engineering space. At IBM I assessed existing systems and designed and built operational Runbooks for one of the largest beverage companies in the world. Before my time at IBM, I worked continuously for 10 years in the health care industry at Medecision in Wayne Pa as a Senior Software Architect. I began my career as a Technical Lead focused on one of our most popular products, iExchange. I was eventually asked to join the Medecision Software Architecture Team as Senior Software Architect based on my performance.

Senior ArchitectMedecision Mar 2009 - Jul 2019King Of Prussia, Pa, UsAs the first full time Architect at Medecision to combine significant project Technical Lead experience with a pure Architecture background from prior full-time and contracting work, I have been in a unique position to transform the traditional relationship Architecture has with Development at Medecision. Acting as both a technical and managerial bridge between the two entities, I have been able to improve efficiency, interpersonal communication and develop a more fundamentally sound code base.I have spent quite a bit of time designing and building the foundation for a line of Mobile capable products using tech such as Vue.JS and Node.JS in an attempt to create lightweight, Responsive and flexible applications that can both perform well and exceed the user's expectations in a mobile form factor.I am also responsible for 3rd party vendor and product evaluation such as Redhat Openshift, Amazon EKS Managed Kubernetes Service and Elastic Search. I have also been personally responsible for the prototyping and architectural direction of most of our layered product upgrades. These include Spring, Hibernate, Oracle 11->12 and Oracle JDK 8 -> OpenJDK 11. My evaluations are not solely technical in nature but also take budgetary considerations into account.I have personally lead a transformation effort here from large monolithic Java Enterprise applications running on Wildfly to a microservices design based on Docker containers running various technology stacks. These include SpringBoot, Node.JS, Express, Quarkus and Graal VM.Integration with 3rd party applications is a fundamental part of our design approach here and making this work from a design and coding perspective including Single Sign On is a critical part of the job. These include applications that enhance or replace Medecision authored modules and often require complicated or difficult real time interactions. -
