Designed and developed the core technology and applications used to achieve industry-standout success. Managed a team of five IT professionals in a highly-agile, 24x7x365 runtime environment. Firm-wide systems consisted of hundreds of ETL jobs, state-of-the-art analytics presented through dozens of screens and tools, realtime pricing, P/L and risk management.

Designed and developed two major systems used for bidding and scheduling the firm’s power generation and for tracking and valuing the resulting trading positions. Development productivity and system utility was described by users as unprecedented.

Chief architect and lead developer of an award-winning SaaS content authoring and management system, used for online-learning applications. This was described at the time by Macromedia (later acquired by Adobe) as one of the top-5, most advanced Flash applications they had encountered. Also notable here was my desire to become a customer of Loudcloud, another firm ahead of its time, from the eventual founders of Andreessen Horowitz. Alas, we were too small for them to take us on as a customer.

• Co-managed the equity derivatives systems development team. Lead architect and developer for the Atlas system that tracked and priced all equity derivatives trading activity and produced over 100 risk management and P/L reports, including front-to-back office feeds. • Designed and developed FASTGraph, a revenue-generating technical analysis and charting application used by hundreds of fixed income sales and trading personnel.• Developed several general-purpose libraries used to enhance FAST's application development productivity, including a report writer with grouping and auto-aggregation capabilities (enabling the 100+ reports, above)

Member of the algorithmic trading team within the proprietary trading department. Developed and traded a $50 million portfolio of model-driven positions with bond, currency and commodity futures. Responsible for introducing NeXTStep to the firm which became a major NeXT customer after being pitched directly by Steve Jobs.

Trading analytics and application development and support for the equity derivatives trading desk, including equity arbitrage basket trading and basket management functionality. Also conceived and developed an algorithmic sector-trading model successfully used by our largest customer. Began building applications with NeXTStep and Objective-C.

Reported directly to Head of Fixed Income Division. Built Nomura’s first PC-LAN database application that tracked all Fixed Income sales and trading commissions and was the primary decision support system for business development. The system was deemed more accurate than an existing mainframe system, was responsible for shutting the latter down, and directly fed the corporate payroll system for all commissioned Fixed Income personnel.
