Hi, I'm Dea (dɛ.a). I'm a proud Indonesian and Sundanese. Being involved in many bio-related research, I realized I have always been fascinated by the fundamental science of how our body's cells work efficiently in organizing biochemical reactions, and that's what I'm currently studying for my Ph.D.However, being trained as a bioengineer, I value functionalities and purposes. I believe that engineering means creating functions through a system. In my case, it is a bio-system. Therefore, understanding the bio-systems fundamentals is crucial to be able to create a product. I view nature-as-a-system is the best teacher and great engineering discoveries are always inspired by nature. For instance, aramid fiber and spider silk, solar cells and butterfly wings, etc. Thus, I see myself in between a scientist and an engineer, by pushing our understanding of nature to bring more nature-inspired innovations.

I was working on two projects. The first one is wastewater valorization for microalgae medium. The outcome of this project was to establish a microalgae cultivation manual and give an alternative income for farmers in rural areas (Published book in 2020). Another research focused on feed formulation from cultivated microalgae as a fish feed in an aquaponic system. This research was conducted under Plant Science and Biotechnology Study Group and funded by P3MI ITB & Indonesia Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.
