Pharmacist Dearbhla O’Connor grew up in Castleisland, a town in Southwest Ireland, and completed her post-primary education at the prestigious St. Joseph’s Presentation Secondary School. Following her graduation from the secondary school in June of 2000, Dearbhla O’Connor left Castleisland to pursue a pharmacy degree at Trinity College Dublin. Consistently ranked as one of the best universities in the world and the top university in Ireland, Trinity College Dublin also holds distinction as the country’s oldest institution of higher learning. As a student at Trinity College Dublin, Dearbhla O’Connor completed coursework at a highly regarded, centuries-old university that counts Bram Stoker, Samuel Beckett, Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, and several former presidents of Ireland among its lengthy list of illustrious alumni. While working toward her degree in pharmacy, Dearbhla O’Connor studied a wide variety of pertinent subjects, including pharmaceutical calculations and data handling; pharmacognosy, which focuses on the study of plant and animal extracts useful in treating or preventing disease; physiology; medicinal chemistry; and pharmaceutical biotechnology, the study of the roles genetics and biotechnological methods play in the creation of new drugs and medications. Dearbhla O’Connor also received extensive training in the practice of pharmacy, which involves the utilization of numerous concepts native to sociology and psychology. An exemplary student with impressive marks in the school’s annual exams, Dearbhla O’Connor earned the Seven Seas Bursary in 2003. Dearbhla O’Connor graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 2004 after finishing her fourth-year research project and accompanying dissertation. For achieving an overall mark of 75 percent or higher on her degree examinations, Dearbhla O’Connor received a Gold Medal from the Board of Trinity College. Dearbhla O’Connor lives and works as a Pharmacist in Ireland.
