In May 2016, I transitioned to the corporate system development team as a Product Owner/Senior Business Analyst managing multiple agile scrum teams. Understanding and documenting business and workflow requirements, managing the work prioritization of scrum teams, providing status to leadership and working with implementation teams are all part of my duties. Prior to this I worked as a Senior Business Analyst in the policy unit with the Kansas Medicaid Account. I worked with the state client to understanding their policy needs and document their requirements. In this position I provided support and training for the provider community in order to maintain a successful network of hospitals, physicians, clinics and specialty providers for the Kansas Medicaid members. I also handled any claims research and credentialing issues for our network providers.

I was a supervisor of 10 employees on the Managed Care team at HP. Our team provided education and assistance with managed care assignments for the members in the Kansas Medical Assistance Program. We were also the subject matter experts of both the managed care and beneficiary systems in the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). I also assisted our team with testing analysis and system design changes. As a supervisor I was responsible for training, quality and personnel issues, hiring of new employees and serving as a resource for my staff with escalated call center issues.

My role as a policy analyst required a thorough knowledge of the Kansas Medical Assistance Program system, guidelines and requirements in order to coordinate all stakeholders in the design and implementation of policies. Excellent communication skills, project management abilities and an attention to detail were required in order to understand the customer’s request and complete a policy throughout the entire design, system implementation, and publication process. In this position I gained knowledge of all MMIS sub-systems including the claims editing and reference systems. I also served as lead in the department.
