My decades of experience as a broadcast journalist includes positions at just about every level of the newsroom. My writing and reporting skills, as well as my strong editorial judgement, have allowed me to drive and lead coverage as well as design and coordinate various special projects.As a Senior Correspondent and Host at WBUR, my primary reporting focus is mental health, addiction and the criminal legal system. My stories and conversations have aired on WBUR, National Public Radio and on other New England public radio stations. I am a member of NPR's Criminal Justice Reporting Collaborative with member stations. My reporting was featured in the NetFlix documentary "How to Fix a Drug Scandal." I frequently work as a fill-in host on WBUR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered and on WBUR's nationally syndicated programs On Point and Here and Now. My work also includes speaking at station events and serving as a moderator for special broadcasts and events. I often collaborate on news coverage both within our newsroom and with journalists from other media outlets. My Awards include: Edward R Murrow Awards for Hard News, News Series, Continuing Coverage and Investigative Reporting; PRNDI awards for Continuing Coverage, Best Interview, Best Newscast; AP awards for Best Newscast, Best Public Affairs show: Education Writers Association - First Place for Education Reporting; Massachusetts Bar Association's Excellence in Legal Journalism Award. My work has been enhanced by several fellowships such as the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health Journalism, Journalist Law School at Loyola University, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation Health Coverage Fellowship, National Press Foundation trainings and the Wake Forest University Addiction Studies Program for Journalists. My professional memberships include the Association of Health Care Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. I serve as a judge for the Education Writers Assocation national journalism awards.
